| Union County Chapter of the A. Philip Randolph Institute | | First organized in 1965, the A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) is the oldest of the National AFL-CIO constituency organizations. APRI's mission, from it’s founding to the present, has been to fight for racial equality and economic justice. The role is unique because APRI unites with black trade unionists, the people best suited to serve as a bridge between labor and the black community. Spearheading what APRI calls the "Black-Labor Alliance," this organization builds black community support for the trade union movement, and convey to labor the needs and concerns of black Americans. |
