The campaign to elect Senator Lautenberg succeeded because of our union support!

Labor volunteers register to Get Out The Vote
National political commentators have noted that without labor's support, it is unlikely that Senator Lautenberg would have won the election this year. Here in Union County, as throughout New Jersey, the Central Labor Council was headquarters for voter registration, voter education, and of course, get out the vote efforts.

Distributing cavassing packets in Union County
On election day itself, volunteers from a broad range of Local Unions in the county canvassed union members and their families. Autoworkers, letter carriers, health & hospital employees, teachers, electricians & other members of the building trades, as well as many other affiliated union members participated to elect labor's candidates.
Preparing to hit the streets on Election Day
Locked-out employees of Tinnerman/Palnut in Hillside who comprised the "shock-troops" of UAW-Region 9's efforts in Union County listen attentively as Union County Central Labor Council President Edward Zarnock outlines plan for a day of canvassing.
