The Labor Movement Responds |
 |
In times of disaster, whether it be flood, famine, storm, or an act of terrorism, our labor movement responds like no other social force . . . sand-bagging rivers, saving homes and historic communities, flying in nurses, donating blood . . . whatever the emergency call for, whenever the call comes, AFL-CIO volunteers and Community Services representatives are there! With the help of our community service partners in United Way, the American Red Cross, or the new Labor Community Fund, we are there. Rebuilding communities, providing a helping hand.
For more information about help that your local union can provide to the victims of the tragedy at the World Trade Center please check out Helping.Org's website at: “Helping.org” |

Valuable local information is available at the NYC Labor Council website “Emergency Response”
Presently, blood service organizations are overwhelmed by our generousity. While this is a testament to labor's spirit of sharing, if you don't have an active Blood Donor Card you will be turned away. The current level of need will not descrease at any time soon, so please wait a week before travelling to your local blood products facility. |
